M3U8 Downloader

Mac · Free download · Video Downloader for Mac

Download videos on Mac by pasting a URL.

Copy a link, paste it into the app, choose where to save it. M3U8 Downloader finds the video, handles HLS/M3U8 playlists and browser cookies when needed, and saves a local MP4 with no cloud upload.

  • Video links
  • Browser cookies
  • Download queue

Signed and notarized DMG. macOS 14 or later. 242 MB.

Built for our sites. Useful beyond them.

We had dozens of small apps, scripts, and shortcuts for downloading videos from our own sites and web projects. We got tired of that and built one proper Mac app. Then we decided to make it public, because the same problem is useful for other people too.

01

Paste the link

Video page, M3U8 playlist, or direct MP4: send them to the same queue.

02

Download without the mess

Multiple URLs, retries, progress, and destination folders stay visible.

03

Cookies when needed

Attach a browser session when the video only starts from a page you already have open.

How it works

  1. 01

    Paste the URL

Video page, M3U8 playlist, or direct video file.

  2. 02

    Choose the folder

Set file name, destination, and browser cookies only if needed.

  3. 03

    Download the video

The queue saves the video as MP4 with visible progress, errors, and retries.

One app, not ten different tools.

Up front it is simple: paste a URL and download the video. Under the hood, the app handles playlists, segments, variants, retries, file names, destinations, and batches.

  • Requirements: Mac with macOS 14 or later.
  • Downloads from URLs, video pages, M3U8 playlists, and direct MP4 files.
  • Handles multiple downloads with progress, retries, destination, and readable logs.
  • Optional browser cookies for sessions already open on your Mac.
  • Does not unlock DRM-protected content.

Always know what is downloading.

Status, speed, destination, errors, and final file stay visible while you work on something else.

Use cases

  • Download videos from our own sites and internal web projects.
  • Download videos from links and video pages.
  • Save lessons, webinars, events, and replays.
  • Turn batches of URLs into local MP4 files.

The file stays on your Mac.

  • No video upload.
  • No required account.
  • You choose folder and file name.
  • Cookies are used only when you switch them on.

Have video links to save on your Mac?

We built it because we were done using a different app for every site. Now it is available for anyone who wants the simple version: paste URLs, download videos, and get clean local files.
