Erasmus+ 2027 for schools: KA1 and KA2, what to prepare now

2027 is the last year of Erasmus+ 2021-2027. The call is not out yet, but the deadlines come quickly: here is what to prepare now for mobility and partnerships.

2027 is the last year of the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 programme. On 20 October 2026 the call for proposals for 2027 is not published yet. In recent years the Commission published it in November: on 20 November 2024 for 2025 and on 12 November 2025 for 2026.

The deadlines for schools come a few weeks later. It is worth preparing registrations, ideas and partners now.

The two actions that matter for schools

KA1, mobility. It funds periods abroad for teachers and staff, such as courses, job shadowing and teaching, and group or individual mobility of pupils. Accredited schools submit a simplified request (KA121); the others can ask for a short-term project (KA122).

KA2, partnerships. It funds cooperation projects between organisations from different countries. Small-scale partnerships (KA210) are designed for newcomers; cooperation partnerships (KA220) for larger projects.

How much partnerships receive

  • Small-scale partnerships (KA210): two lump sums, 30,000 or 60,000 euros, for projects of 6 to 24 months with at least two organisations from two countries.
  • Cooperation partnerships (KA220): three lump sums, 120,000, 250,000 or 400,000 euros, for projects of 12 to 36 months with at least three organisations from three countries.

The lump sum is chosen in the application according to the planned activities and cannot change later. In KA1 mobility the grant is calculated with unit costs for travel, stay and organisation.

Last year’s deadlines, to find your bearings

For the 2026 call the school deadlines were these, always at 12:00 Brussels time:

  • 19 February 2026: KA121 and KA122 mobility;
  • 5 March 2026: KA210 and KA220 partnerships;
  • 29 September 2026: Erasmus accreditation (KA120).

The 2027 dates will only be known with the call and the 2027 Programme Guide. Use the 2026 dates as a reference, not as a certainty.

What to prepare now

  1. Registrations. You need an EU Login account and the school’s OID, the identifier for the actions managed by national agencies. Check who signs for the school as well.
  2. Objectives. Write what you want to change in the school: languages, inclusion, digital skills, sustainability. The application must start from needs, not from trips.
  3. Partners. For partnerships, look for schools or organisations in other countries with a similar plan, for example on the European School Education Platform and eTwinning.
  4. Timeline. Decide who writes, who collects signatures and who uploads the application, with a few days of margin before the deadline.

Each country has a national agency for school education that publishes guides and free information sessions. In partnerships, one organisation submits the application on behalf of all.
