The Interreg France-Switzerland 2021-2027 programme funds joint projects between the two sides of the border. It has 69.7 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and 50 million francs of Swiss federal and cantonal funds.
One of its priorities is “Supporting the tourism and culture sectors”. It suits museums, cultural sites, tourism boards, associations and small businesses that want to work with a partner on the other side of the border.
The territory
The programme covers five French departments (Ain, Doubs, Haute-Savoie, Jura and Territoire de Belfort) and seven Swiss cantons (Bern, Fribourg, Geneva, Jura, Neuchâtel, Valais and Vaud).
What it funds for tourism and culture
- a joint strategy to promote the tourism potential;
- more sustainable and inclusive tourism offers and practices;
- inclusive cross-border cultural actions;
- the development of digital uses in tourism and culture.
The beneficiaries named by the programme include public bodies, cultural actors such as associations and cultural and creative industries, tourism venues, tourist offices and SMEs.
The two-lead-partner rule
Every project needs at least one French and one Swiss lead partner. The partners design the project together, pool resources and produce lasting joint results. Other public or private partners can join.
Submission dates
The thematic calls are open from 12 September 2026 to 12 March 2027. Submission happens in two steps: first a pre-project form, then the full application.
- Autumn 2026 session: pre-project form by 11 September 2026, full application by 6 November 2026, monitoring committee on 13 May 2027.
- Spring 2027 session: pre-project form by 12 March 2027, full application by 23 April 2027, monitoring committee on 25 November 2027.
The programme states that the 12 March 2027 date applies only if funds are still available. It is worth contacting the joint secretariat early.
How to prepare
- Find the partner on the other side of the border and agree on objectives and roles.
- Read the project leader’s guide and the sheet of the tourism and culture priority.
- Prepare the pre-project form, the first step of the submission, and then the full application.
