Reconstruction: a driver studies a real route at the TholusVia immersive station with a synchronised map and tablet

THOLUSVIA · IMMERSIVE OPERATIONAL TRAINING

TholusVia

Reduce the repetitive part of on-road route training.

TholusVia turns a real bus route into an interactive learning journey. Preparation, repetition and assessment take place at the depot station and on authorised devices, so instructors and vehicles are used on the road where they are genuinely needed.

Project proposal · Demo available. The demo shows the training core. The station, routes, devices, company workflows and integrations are configured within the pilot project.

THE OPERATIONAL PROBLEM

Training every driver on the road consumes instructor hours, vehicles and budget.

When even the repeatable part of route knowledge is taught on the road, every new driver requires an instructor, an available bus and time coordinated around service. The cost grows with each driver, route, transfer and update.

Every repetition has an operating cost

Repeating a route commits instructor hours, vehicle availability, travel and coordination. Even activities drivers could repeat independently continue to burden service operations.

Expert knowledge must be transferred each time

The instructor knows what to anticipate and which landmark to watch. Without one shared journey, the same explanation must be repeated for every person or group.

Updates and rarely driven routes restart training

A diversion, transfer or rarely driven route may require further accompaniment even when only a few specific points need review.

BEFORE AND AFTER

The route becomes an experience that can be repeated, checked and remembered.

TholusVia moves preparation, repetition and assessment into the station and onto authorised devices. The real run remains for driving, procedures and on-road evaluation; the pilot measures how many instructor and vehicle hours can be reduced.

BeforeWith TholusVia

Every new driver multiplies instructor and vehicle hours.

The repeatable part is delivered at the station and on authorised devices.

Knowledge varies with the person teaching it.

The company publishes one consistent visual and audio journey.

Errors emerge during accompanied driving or service.

Practice and assessment identify what needs review first.

A rarely used route must be rebuilt from memory.

The driver reopens the essential stops, turns and landmarks.

Training cost is difficult to attribute by route and driver.

The pilot compares hours, attempts and remaining accompaniment.

FROM ROAD TO TRAINING

Five steps, each one verifiable.

Production starts from the operator’s network, not from generic scenarios. The route is recorded or imported, enriched with learning events, published to the agreed access points and tested with a pilot group.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

Less repetitive on-road training. More instructor time where it matters.

The pilot compares instructor hours, vehicle use, time per driver and remaining accompaniment. Savings are calculated from the operator’s real costs, without a predefined percentage.

For the driver

  • see the road, not only a list of streets
  • recognise the landmark before the turn
  • repeat and review only what is needed
  • receive precise feedback after practice

For the operator

  • reduce introductory repetitions carried out on the road
  • focus instructor time on points that need support
  • reuse content for onboarding, review and transfers
  • compare the current cost with the TholusVia journey

No percentage saving is promised in advance. The pilot measures costs, hours and activities that can be reduced without removing necessary practice, procedures or assessment.

WITHIN THE PROJECT TEAM

It joins the work at its current stage.

TholusVia can start from a route, a training centre already under design or existing company systems. The brief, responsibilities, data and approval points are defined with the people who already govern training, space and digital infrastructure.

01

Operators and trainers

Operations, instructors, safety and quality teams define the route, critical points and pilot criteria.

02

Space designers

Architects, interior designers and learning-space specialists receive requirements for footprint, viewing, acoustics and services.

03

Technology and integration

IT, audiovisual integrators, LMS and HR teams connect identity, devices, reports and systems without imposing one architecture.

04

Route production

360-video operators, spatial-data specialists and route experts turn the approved path into reviewable learning content.

CONFIGURABLE SCOPE

From the demo to a system integrated with the operator.

The demo evaluates the core on a real route. Every further capability is designed, quoted and validated in the pilot and contract; this list describes configuration options, not features bundled into a standard version.

THE DEPOT STATION

A station for route knowledge.

The station combines computing, panoramic display, audio and controls in a setting dedicated to route knowledge. It is sized for the available space, can use local content and does not claim to be a full vehicle-dynamics simulator.

  • Sized to the spaceThe project can start with one screen or use a panoramic or multi-projector display.
  • Local content when requiredRoute packages can run locally; report protection and synchronisation follow the agreed architecture.
  • Route knowledgeTholusVia trains observation, sequence, stops and operational decisions. It does not reproduce steering, braking, vehicle mass or bus dynamics.
Project configurations
  • single screen, panoramic or multi-projector display
  • macOS player and offline content
  • synchronised map and position
  • route-linked audio and instructions
  • keyboard, gamepad or compatible controls
  • trainer dashboard on a separate display

PERSONAL ACCESS

Preparation and review on authorised devices.

When the station is not needed, drivers can prepare, review stops and decisions, listen to guidance and complete assigned activities. Access, offline content and functions are configured for company-authorised devices.

  • PreparationRoute, direction, objectives and next step before the immersive session.
  • Focused reviewFilters for stops, turns, landmarks, critical points or errors from the last assessment.
  • Route summaryStop sequence, critical turns, landmarks and operational notes in one concise view.
  • Controlled offline accessWhere agreed, content remains on the device with version and last update visible.

Interactive use is intended before departure, at the terminus or during a break. Any support while driving is a separate, primarily audio module that must be authorised and validated against the devices, safety requirements and applicable rules.

THE USUAL NEXT

Immersive experience applied to an operational need.

360 video, projection, sound, interaction and software turn the depot into a learning environment. The purpose is not spectacle, but to make a real route observable, repeatable and verifiable. The station makes the experience physical; web and mobile distribute it.

THE FIRST STEP

Start with the real cost of training one route.

The pilot starts from the current method: instructor hours, vehicle use, number of drivers, repetitions and updates. One route and a defined group measure how much repeatable training can move off the road.

  1. 01

    Define

Route, depot, driver profile, current method, hours and costs to compare.

  2. 02

    Prepare

Recording or import, review with an instructor and demo configuration.

  3. 03

    Test

Guided session, practice, assessment, review and agreed access.

  4. 04

    Measure

Instructor and vehicle hours, time per driver, recurring errors and remaining accompaniment.

  5. 05

    Configure

Only after the pilot do we define routes, stations, devices, integrations and support.

CONTEXT AND REFERENCES

Evidence and limits, clearly separated.

Context data and regulatory references remain separate from product performance. TholusVia’s operational performance is measured only in the pilot conducted with the operator concerned.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The essential answers.

Is TholusVia already a complete product?

TholusVia is a project proposal with a working demo of the training core. The demo covers a real route, learning, assessment, review and reports. The station, content, devices, integrations and operational modules are defined in the pilot and formalised in the contract.

Is it a bus-driving simulator?

No. TholusVia is dedicated to route knowledge. It does not faithfully simulate steering, braking, mass or vehicle dynamics and does not replace driving hours, company procedures or on-road assessments.

What does the station include?

It can include a configured Mac, single or panoramic display, audio, compatible controls and a trainer dashboard. Components, footprint, projectors and installation depend on the space and chosen experience.

Can drivers use it away from the station?

Yes. Preparation, review, the route summary and assigned activities are designed for iPad, iPhone and browsers. Functions, offline access and authorised devices are agreed with the operator.

Can it be used while driving?

Interactive use is intended before departure, at the terminus or during a break. Any support while driving is a separate, primarily audio module that must be configured on suitable devices and validated with the operator.

Does it replace accompanied route runs?

Not automatically. It moves the repeatable part of route knowledge into the station and personal access. The pilot measures what can be reduced and what must remain on the road.

How is a route created?

The base is a 360 recording synchronised with the route and stops. An editor links guidance, landmarks, critical points and questions to the right moments. Automated tools may assist, but an authorised person reviews published content.

Does it work without a connection?

The station can use local packages containing video, route, events, audio and the required maps. Offline use on personal devices is configurable; versions and synchronisation are defined in the project.

Do assessments count as CPC or OAut training?

Not automatically. TholusVia can document internal training and support programmes developed with authorised partners. Recognition depends on applicable rules, the approved programme and authorised organisations.
