Immersive projections for children

In Ovindoli and Roccaraso, an immersive dome welcomed families and children to a fulldome programme combining entertainment, discovery and science communication. Immersive animation and scientific projections turned the full-dome screen into a space to explore simply by looking up.

The context

These two mountain destinations in Abruzzo attract families looking for activities to enjoy together. The project had to fit naturally into their programme, appeal to different age groups and remain flexible enough to support multiple screenings throughout the day.

The objective

The aim was to create an immersive attraction that brought younger audiences closer to science without losing the wonder of cinema. For parents and organisers, the value lay in offering a shared, educational and memorable activity directly within the destination.

A programme designed for families

The schedule alternated different visual languages and rhythms, keeping curiosity alive and giving visitors a reason to return for another experience.

From structure to projection

The work covered dome assembly, installation and tensioning of the internal screen, projection-system setup and on-site content checks. Operational direction connected the build, visual quality and audience flow so that every session began in a space ready to welcome visitors.

Hundreds of children, and a reason to return

Hundreds of children attended the screenings across Ovindoli and Roccaraso. Many chose to come back for more content. This behaviour, observed on site, says more than any slogan about the format’s ability to keep curiosity alive.

The clearest result was seeing children and parents look up together, absorbed by the same story and the same space.

When wonder becomes learning

Full-dome projection brings content closer. Rather than a frontal lesson, it creates a visual environment to navigate. By alternating animation and science communication, the programme spoke to children in an accessible language while giving parents an experience with clear educational value.

A format for destinations, schools and family events

The project shows how a mobile planetarium or immersive dome can enrich municipal programmes, festivals, school initiatives, family days, hospitality venues and destination events. Content can be adapted to the audience’s age, the event theme and expected visitor flow.
